ROBERT O'BYRNE is a well-known Irish writer and journalist. He worked for the Irish Times for more than ten years, and since leaving the newspaper has written ten books including a biography of Sir Hugh Lane, a history of the Irish Georgian Society and a history of the Irish fashion industry. He is currently working on three further books as well as being a regular contributor to a number of publications including the Irish Arts Review and Apollo magazine.
Ireland has long been renowned for its eccentrics and many of them have found an outlet for their idiosyncrasies in the houses they occupy. Robert O'Byrne looks at some of these buildings and talks about their history, their architecture and their distinctly peculiar owners, past and present.
