The Princess Grace Irish Library makes history

H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and His sister H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover attended a music celebration to mark the 40th anniversary of the Library on 20th November 2024. It was exactly 40 years to the day in 1984, when they inaugurated the Princess Grace Irish Library, alongside their father Prince Rainier III, in tribute to Their mother, Princess Grace. They were each presented with a limited-edition copy of the beautifully illustrated commemorative book to mark this milestone in the history of the Library. The event and book pay tribute to Princess Grace and her attachment to Ireland. A digital version of the book is freely available to all here. The Library was created in 1984, two years after the untimely death of the Princess, to house her collection of books and Irish American song sheets. It is under the aegis of the Fondation Princesse Grace, which was founded in 1964 by Princess Grace; the honour of the Presidency was bestowed on H.R.H. the Princess of Hanover and Vice-President is H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco.
