NICK ROBINSON, once himself a political cartoonist, is an historian of this low art and author of Edmund Burke: a Life in Caricature (Yale University Press, 1996).  His collection of eighteenth- and early nineteenth-century caricatures, formed over thirty years, is now in the library of Trinity College Dublin.
